ÆGIS’s competitive advantage centers on a class of patented hydrogel biomaterials. These materials possess physical/mechanical, chemical and process characteristics unparalleled by any hydrogel material used in the industry today.

Broadly, ÆGIS’s proprietary hydrogel technology has application in the wound dressing market (our primary focus), drug delivery market, and medical device coatings market; including vascular grafts, stents, heart valve cuffs or any device where the delivery of a therapeutic from a device surface may improve the efficacy or performance of the device.

Special emphasis is placed on wound dressings for the management and treatment of serious and chronic wounds where in the acute hospital care setting alone, each year approximately 1.6 million patients develop pressure ulcers.

Of key importance is noting that therapeutic agents can be incorporated into a product thus increasing its efficacy.
